The significance of the mailbox is that back in the day, we didn’t have cellphones to stay in touch with our friends. We only had house phones that we weren’t allowed to use.

So we had to either make arrangements beforehand in school to get together or walk to the corner and sit on the mailbox and wait for a friend to stop or drive by.

By the time I got around to take this recent picture of the corner, the USPS had removed the box, so I had to make one out of cardboard so that I can get an accurate picture of the corner.

The mailbox is the official mascot of Daring & UnAfraid.
